Advanced Enviro-Septic® (AES) is an effective, passive on-site wastewater treatment system for residential, commercial, and community use. An average household produces around 1000 litres of wastewater per day. AES systems are easily adapted to smaller or larger wastewater flows and have been used in designs from 400 litres per day and to date up to 300,000 litres per day. An AES bed is installed after a septic tank and treats effluent to advanced secondary quality using natural bacterial processes before it is passively dispersed into the soil.
Three parameters are commonly tested when evaluating effluent quality: Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Faecal Coliforms, measured in colony forming units. Typically secondary wastewater systems produce effluent with BOD 20mg/L, TSS = 30mg/L and Faecal Coliforms = 10,000 cfu/100ml. The Advanced Enviro-septic® system has internationally test results of BOD 2mg/L, TSS 2mg/L, and Faecal Coliforms 218 cfu/100ml.
